HOSEA Feed the Hungry was established in 1978 by Hosea Williams, a prominent civil rights activist. Their mission is to rescue, restore and re-stabilize at risk and homeless individuals and families so they can thrive and become self-sufficient. They are located in Atlanta, GA and focus their work on the surrounding community.
The US Minority Ticketing Group Scholars enthusiastically supports the work that they have continued to do throughout the decades.
MLK Parade Committee Fund
The MLK Jr. Parade Committee was founded in 1981 to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. They host the largest parade in Nevada and has gathered people throughout Las Vegas for decades. It is led by Wendell Williams, a former Nevada State Rep and current senior consultant for the Nevada Behavioral Care. Mr. Williams was the first African American elected as the Speaker of the NV legislature.
USMTGS has partnered with the MLK Jr. Parade Committee to provide an annual scholarship to a local minority student for college. The very first recipient of the scholarship was Allen Shelton Jr. of Las Vegas. We aim to continue raising funds in order to provide more and more scholarships to minority students in Las Vegas.
Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth
The Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth (NPHY) is the most comprehensive service provider for the thousands of homeless youth in Southern Nevada. Their programs stabilize the lives of homeless teens, providing a safe, supportive environment and a path to self-sufficiency.
We have partnered with NPHY to develop the USMTG Annual Community Day event and provide Las Vegas homeless youth with mentoring opportunities. USMTGS previously presented youth with tickets to the NBA Summer League. As our organization builds, we will continue to offer more opportunities to the youth of NPHY.
